Andrea Franchetti founded his winery on Mount Etna restoring an old estate and cellars on the northern slope of the volcano. His arrival in 2000 helped to initiate the renaissance of viticulture on the volcano and an international discovery of the wines of Etna.
With the winetasting at the winery, you will be able to discover how the wines enhance the ancient tradition of this wine producing area and how they are able to fully express all the shades coming from the different lavic soils of the Contrade.

A tour and a winetasting specific for people who would like to deepen their knowledge about Etna wines, to better understand the uniqueness of a lavic terroir such as the Etna ones and its Contrade.
Starting with a guided tour in the vineyards of Contrada Guardiola, one of the Contrade located in the territory of Passopisciaro, you will immerse yourself into the characteristics of a territory driven by microclimate, exposure and activity of Mount Etna and by the biodiversity you can find in and around the different vineyards.
The results are Crus vocated to the cultivation of the indigenous variety Nerello Mascalese, along with the not indigenous ones such as Chardonnay, Petit Verdot and Cesanese d’Affile, producing complex red and white wines, all of them with a great personality.
After the vineyards the tour will continue with the ancient cellar going deeper into winemaking and aging procedures and then the winetasting, in the historical building, of 5 different Etna wines:
- Passobianco IGT Terre Siciliane (100% Chardonnay)
- Passorosso Etna Doc (100% Nerello Mascalese)
- A selection of 3 Contrada wines
